Your Collaborative Task: Your team has been given the task by your local community board to research, design, and build a community garden. You should consider some of the following questions when implementing your ideas: What types of vegetables and fruits do our neighbors want to grow? Are these vegetables and fruits considered native and/or will their production use unnecessary water resources? What types of plants can best serve local populations of bees? |
Your project should include the following components:
1. A community letter that includes supportive reasoning why a local sharing garden will benefit the community. 2. A design of what the Share Garden will look like -- what will the layout be? Will you have one large planter box? Several planter boxes? 3. A list of fruits, vegetables, and flowers that you will plant and how these chosen species will benefit one of our greatest pollinators--the bee! 4. A water plan! In your last activity, you learned about the importance of water conservation. You will need to write a one-page paper on how your Share Garden will be irrigated and you must show evidence how the irrigation that you have chosen will best conserve water. |
